I have a 1993 pontiac grand am 2.3 litre sohc with a serious misfire problem. Originally I thought it was the cat. but was mistaken. I got a code for the iac (idle air control) sensor so I replaced it with no results.
I also replaced the map sensor and eac. The car will run at idle but when you hit the throttle, it stutters then clears up at high rpm. When you put it in gear and try to drive, it sputters coughs and pops like crazy with a serious loss of power. A friend told me it was a coil problem, but when I replaced the two coils it seemed to get worse (running on 2 cylinders). This is really starting to drive me crazy cause I can usually figure things out. Can anybody help me please?? |

does your 2.3l have an EGR?
and are the plug wires in good condition, and routed so as not to allow inductive crossfire? did you check for vacuum leaks? |
