ordering car from dealer
Hi,
I got a good deal on a Hyundai Elantra Hatchback 5-speed for 12300. The problem is the dealer would have to order it from another dealer and I would have to pay ahead of time, so if it comes back with dings and scratches or other things they would repair it but it might be with really cheap tack, not necessarily new anymore. Do you think its worth the risk of just ordering it? Does anyone have prior experience with this sort of thing? Also a different dealer offered 12000 for the sedan version of the elantra, 5-speed as well. The car is actually on the lot as well. Do you think its worth just getting this one? I do like the hatchback alot better because it looks more sporty and has more cargo room. Thanks Report Post | IP: Logged |

Re: ordering car from dealer
Seeing as you will drive this car for years; getting the hatch version that you like is worth the extra $300. You will forget about the extra money quickly, but if you cheap - out that decision will piss you off everytime you look at the car.
As for dings and scratches; don't worry about it. Most new cars travel for hundreds or thousands of miles to get to the dealer. A few extra miles from one dealer to another won't make much of a difference. Staff tend to take good care of the new cars, as well. But you should do a thorough review of the car for dings etc before accepting delivery. If there is somethng wrong, refuse to take it unless its fixed. If you refuse to take delivery, they will fix it, even though you have already paid for it. |

Re: ordering car from dealer
Don't they do a walkaround of the car with you before you take delicery? I know they did with mine. However, mine is a lease, so it might be a bit different. So if there are problems, you let them know, and they'll fix it, no big deal.

Re: ordering car from dealer
Because of the cost involved with shipping a car most dealers will only trade with dealers who are nearby. Find out where the car in question is and go look at it. Nothing beats actually seeing it. That being said I recently bought a new car from a dealer 1000 miles away sight unseen. Shipping was $500 dollars and not a scratch.
