Exclamation Help With 96 Avenger.. Just Bought.. No Manual PLEASE!!! Many Problems

Hi i just bought a 96 avenger es from a user car dealer ... 116,000 kms, and powertrain warrenty. These are some questions i got PLEASE HELP!

a. There this light thats on ... the left side of the speedometer it looks like a enginer.. or something wit a fan on it ? What is this please.. i have no manual.

b. Only One of the two fans under the hood are working... is this bad? How much to get this fixed.. and could this be causing the light in a. When i first bought the car... the light on the dashboard wasnt on ... and the fan wasnt working then!

c. The ABS Brake Light is ALWAYS on ... is this bad.. or does it mean the brakes are active?

d. I could smell something like a burning smell.. my dad said its nothing but Im just being safe and asking.

e. This is my first used car do you recommend I take it to a Chrysler dealer and get it 100% checked.. it was Safety Tested and Emission Tested Last week and it passed.

a. are u talking about a boost light? like a turbo

b. dont think thats the reason for the light, shouldnt cost too much if its a dodge part.

c. this means your anti lock brakes arent working, so unless you dont care about having antilock brakes then get them fixed.

d. dont know, maybe its using oil. this car is notorious for leaking oil, bad head gaskets, the gasket on the oil pan went bad on ours.

e. i wouldnt take it to the dealer, but thats because i got this guy down the road we've been doin buisness with for 20 years and he does good work for us. idk the answer to this one.

Welcome to the forums.

Please post your cars info in your signature so that we don't have to ask a lot of questions to help. Is your car the v6 or 4 cyl?

A. It is probably your ENGINE light that's lit and you can simply unplug the battery for a few minutes and have it plugged back on. This should reset it and keep it off. If the light comes back on, then you probably have a bad O2 sensor.

B. Only one fan will work if your AC is turned off. If you turn your AC on, assuming you have it, the 2nd fan should come on.

C. I would definitely have this light (ABS) checked by the dealership.

D. The smell/odor is normal for cars that w/that age & mileage. You can also try checking under the engine for signs of oil that may have dripped over to the muffler. If you see some oil, run to AUTOZONE, buy a $5.00 engine spray cleaner, allow the car to cool off and spray that stained area. Then after a few minutes run cool water under it to remove it and that smell might dissipate some. I said some and not all.

E. I still love my CHRYSLER Sebring since I first purchased!!

Good luck!
