Need help from people that replaced fuel relay
1991 Honda Accord
I tried to solder the connections on the relay about 6 months ago, and the car seemed to start every time. I have since bought a new car and the battery died in my accord. I tried to jump start it two days in a row with no luck. I can't hear the fuel pump when I turn it to the on position. If I remember correctly, you can hear it on the driver's side. Is this correct? Does this relay act up in hot weather or when the engine is hot? Can I buy it locally? Is there a way to test to see if it is the relay other than the swap out method? |

Re: Need help from people that replaced fuel relay
the relay will act up when its just hot outside. the car can be sitting in 100 degree wether and it will act up. The best peice of advise i can tell you is. Get in the car and roll all the windows up so you can hear. turn the key on but don't crank the car. watch the check engine lite. once the light goes off you will hear a click. that click is the relay turning off. if it doesn'e click than its a good chance the relay is bad. Try checking fuses to.

Thanks for the reply.
I had the door open and couldn't hear anything. I also had one of my friends listen for it with no luck. I'll try the check engine light thing tomorrow. I can hear it making a clicking noise after I disengage the starter motor. Can I buy that part locally? I moved out of that apartment complex, so management is telling me to move it or they will have it towed. The car is lowered 2 1/4 inches, so I'm not sure if I can use a tow dolly to get it out of there or not. How much does this part usually run? |
