2000 sunfire mysterious problem

here lately my sunfire will not start, when the key is turned the engine doesnt do a thing, but everything thing else works(radio, lights, etc) but if u sit there and mess with it for awhile it will finally turn. i took it to a dealership to look at it and they put it through tests and found nothing wrong, and it work perfect for the 2 days they had it, as soon as i took it home it started acting up again. it almost seems like the only times this happens is when i am parked on an incline, any suggestions?

Check the wiring at the starter and the ground and positive wires coming from the battery. It sounds like you may have a bad connection either on the positive or negative terminal. Also check the area where the ground connects to the block. Finally did the security light come on? If so the passlock system may have a problem.

th esecurity light does light up when it wont start, and my girlfriends dad suggested that as the problem but when i asked the pontiac dealership i took it to they said that wasnt the problem, maybe i just need a second opinion lol. the thing that bothers me is that they put it on all the computer tests and said it was nothnig major since none came back negative.

That is because they are looking at the wrong thing. Once again there are very few mechanics left just technicians. If the security light is coming on then the problem is in the security system. If you have another OEM key you may want to try that as the system reads the key when trying to recognize that it is not being stolen.
