9k redline

i wanted to know if a 9k redline is safe on a stock jdm b16a 1990 motor. with minor mods like intake, exhaust etc

Why? You don't make any more power past 7800 unless you've upgraded your cam.

Anyway the first thing you should do is replace the valve springs and retainers or you'll float your valves.

i dont think i will be able to afford that. lol i will stick with the 8200 redline, till i upgrade valvetrain, and balance crank with new rods a high comp pistons

I have reved my old B16 to 9500rpm before, once or twice, no damage was caused, but I'm lucky. if you want to rev that high upgrade your springs and retainors. my new B16 can rev to 10k and it has seen it once or twice so far.

the most i would take a stock b16 to is 8700... but that's just me.

skunk 2 valve train with comp 57200 cams, stock block.

has seen 10,000 atleast 20 times, but i rev it to about 9,000 no a daily basis

I don't understand why everyone wants to rev their engines to redline? I must be either a conservative driver or too poor.

i dont know man i take my ZC with I/H/E/C/MSD to 8500 and just get nervous it might blow but im not sure if it would or not i just dont like to see that much smoke, so i will rebuild.

Uhh.. I think 8,200rpm is plenty high for a B16A considering it makes peak power at 7,800rpm.

Time to hit the books kiddo.
