power sliding door problems

I have a 2002 Sienna XLE Limited and the power sliding doors are a problem. Each one has a mind of its own. They will sometimes work and sometimes not. The driver's side door has completely quit for now and the passenger side quit for awhile, then worked fine for about 2 weeks and has now quit again, is locked and can't be opened.

I have had the car to 3 shops. The first shop... the mechanic couldn't figure anything out. The second shop... the mechanic found broken wires and repaired them. Everything worked fine for about 3 days then the problems started again. Then I took it to the dealer and they said the wiring was fine and that I needed new motors at $1900 each CDN.

It does not make sense that a 3 year old Sienna with 135,000 km would have both power door motors needing replacing at the exact same time. Why would both motors quit together? And, when the doors do decide to work, the motors work fine.

I have now spent $400 on these doors and the problem still persists. I don't want to continue spending money and not have the problem fixed. Logic suggests that the problem is not the motors. I would greatly appreciate it if someone has any insight into this.

Hi

My dad has a sienna its a 2001 and he bought it from the Toyota dealer with 45,000 kms on it. I paid for warranty and his passenger side door has been messed up the entire time. in his case a really annoying buzzer/alarm would go off constantly signalling that the door wasn't closed. The drivers side door always worked fine. the passanger door works fine manually but not powered. The dealer replaced the wiring, the motors everything. They adjusted this and reset that. In all he had them look at it 8 times before he gave up on it and had them disconnect the buzzer. Now he only uses the drivers side as powered and manual for the passenger. He didn't have to pay for anything due to warranty but the bottom line is that Toyota can not fix these doors.
