Turning up the boost.

I have a question about the T25 and a boost controller. One of you guys said you turned it up until it went bad. So is turning up the boost on the turbo not bad for the engine (assuming you aren't being ridiculous with it) ?

Re: Turning up the boost.

The concensus is 16psi on the T25. It's not a matter of being harmful to the engine, but that the turbo is inefficient above there are produces a lot more heat than power. The heat will knock on pump gas.

You might run into fuel-cut as well.

Re: Turning up the boost.

You shouldnt hit fuel cut on your t25 at 16psi. Go for it, but be sure to watch your boost gauge.

You shouldn't hit fuel cut on your t25 at ANY boost. I mixed a little 110 octane in my tank back when I had the t25 and ran it to ~21psi. I felt no difference in pull and guess what, NO FUEL CUT That turbo just can't dish out enough airflow. Nuff said

Re: Turning up the boost.

I seemed to hit it when the boost went past 22 at low rpm. Remember fuel cut is grams/rev airflow limit.. so when the RPM are lower, it's more likely. T25 spools fast. No matter though, don't kill the turbo by doing that often, even if you have race gas to counter the knock.

Re: Turning up the boost.

So running at high PSI is only bad for the turbo besides the knock. So running at 16 PSI isn't bad for the turbo just uses more gas? And I suppose that running at like 22 psi for too long will warp the turbine or compressor wheel?

just keep it conservative. if you know something might happen, it probably will. dont push it to the limit, if you want to run alot then get better parts.
