Time for a new car.

well its time for me to get my first car!

I want a new car/suv. It has to meet the following requirements:
-Decent Power
-4+ seats
-good looks
-bolt-on responsive (for cars)
-decent gas mileage (20+ for cars, 15+ for suv's)
-affordable insurance for a 17 year old.
-manual transmission (for cars)
-no fwd suv's

mostly i want something i can drive in the rain/bad weather, but still roll around in style when the time comes.

im not looking to spend more than say... 10g's on it.

A jeep wrangler. you'll be borderline on the gas mileage, but jeeps are good in any weather.

Re: Time for a new car.

Hmmm, well I don't as far as suvs go, maybe a Blazer or Explorer, possibly a 4runner. As for cars, check out a 2000 -01 Celica, 99-00 Civic Si, Integra LS, and Focus ZX3s.

i love the mazda6, and just after a quick look on ebay, you could probably get one in 10k range if you looked hard enough, that'd probably be my choice. the pathfinder keeps popping up, and those seem like a good choice too.
what about a Rav4? i don't really know if they're any good or not, but they seem pretty cheap and i bet they get good gas mileage.

Pretty good used Wranglers can be found for $10k easily. The Wrangler might be too rough and unrefined for most people, especially for daily driving. If you live in a snowy place, a Wrangler might not be recommended since there's wouldn't much car-material between you and the cold weather.

I would recommend the Subaru Forester over soft-SUVs like the CRV and Rav4. The Forester has good power, AWD, available manual, as well as comfort and practicality. An used one can be found under $10k pretty easily too.

I would also recommend a Ford Escape if you can find an used one for under $10k.

Re: Time for a new car.

yeah, i hadn't thought about the forester, that's a good choice.
so i'm going with a mazda6 for a car, or a forester for an SUV

Re: Time for a new car.

I think you should get a Nissan Skyline, Honda Prelude or a Nissan Terrano?
I own a Honda Prelude really reliable and quick car!
But the problem witha prelude not much space!

They're in America.

Teranno = Pathfinder.

Skyline = GTR only over there and horrendously expensive.

Re: Time for a new car.

That description fits any number of cars, or trucks, or SUV's. Figure out what aspects are priorities (or at least weather you want an SUV or car), pick out a few potential vehicals and ask around here about them. Every car company has 4 or so vehicals that fit your description its all going to be personal preference and what you can find in the best shape because I am assuming you are looking for a used car.

its a 2001, first year with fuel injection.

Ive decided on an SUV. A Jeep Grand Cherokee, A Nissan Xterra, Ford Escape, or a Dodge Durango.

I checked the Auto Trader today, and all these can be had in decent condition for 9-11k.

The Escapes and Xterras i saw were only V6's, and i wanted a V8.
