Good for me.

Did it last fall in my 91 auto. It was my first time doing an engine so I took my time. I changed out all the gaskets (including head gasket).

Took me about 2 weeks, an hour or so every day. I could do it in a day or two now.

You don't need to, but I rented an engine hoist, and it made life alot easier.

Nothing like turning that key, and having a new metro!!

Engine was $450 delivered to my door.

Figure on about another $300 for gaskets, lift rental, water pump, timing belt etc...

i have installed about 15 of them in last year or so. so far have yet to get a bad one. if you have a auto you can pull just the engine, if you have a 5 speed you have to pull engine and tranny as a unit, engine hoist or some sort of overhead lift makes life a lot easier. i have the swap down to around 5 hours now including transfering the manifolds. i get mine for $300 from Aoneengine.com and just pick them up but if you check e-bay might find someone closer to you

There is no need to pull the tranny, at least on my '92.. I just let the intake complete with all it's sensors and hoses sit there and tied it up to the firewall. The exhaust just dropped out of the way. You do need to remove the crank pulley and coolant hoses and disconnect any sensors.

The only other part in question was the valve cover was different so I used my old one. Intake, exhaust gaskets were replaced.

I did not change the water pump or any other part on the motor as even the timing belt appeared new.

You should plan on a new clutch assembly and resurfaced flywheel.

About 8 hours start to finish with my son lending maybe 1 hour of his time.
