97 sc2 manual shift linkage

My Manual shift linkage broke...At the base of the shift lever (under the console), there is a ball that attaches to the linkage cable sim;ly by inserting the ball into the end opening of the cable.....What broke is a
plastic retainer that holds the lower ball of the shift lever
in the linkage....problem is that that plastic clip is not available locally
...so I would have to buy the entire cable from Saturn for $160 ...
Any ideas of where I maight find this retainer piece other than
junk yards.....Saturns are not easy to come by in the local junk yards.
