How do i know i have a bad fuel pump?
I have a 93 Lebaron, and for the past few weeks, it doesn't start, the fuel pump doesn't power up, once i a while it does and the car runs fine.
I did a spark test, and it has spark. I swapped out a old fuel pump relay for a new relay and nothing changed. I didn't see any burnt fuses. Now i need to know if the fuel pump is bad itself or its the wires running from the pump to the engine. I unpluged the wires from the back of the pump, and used a black light and some cheap copper wires, while someone turned the engine over. The light didn't light up. But this was during the day, and i was using loose wires. I want to test the pump, and put 12 volts into it, bud someone said that was a bad idea, its inside the fuel tank. Is there a surefire easy way to find out on my own if its the fuel pump or the wires? Should i go by a volt meter? How much are those? |

Okay so i tested the wires to the pump, i just used a small motor out of a toy race car. When i turned the key the motor spun for a split second, but then i kept turing the key back and forth and nothing happend, but when it turned the car over to start it the motor spun every time. So i guess its the fuel pump.
I may just sell the car as is, i doubt i would be able to change the fuel pump on my own, and i can't seem to get aanyone to help me, besides i would be doing it in my driveway, i don't know anyone with a lift. I hope i can get my money back when i sell this pos. |
