how long does the timing belt last?

i have a 1996 eclipse spyder
i couldnt find any history on the timing belt being changed.

and i bought the car from the auction jus 2 months ago.

it has 105000 miles on it
how much more life does it have?

Well I hope it was changed at 60,000 like it was sappose too and if you assume that. You have another 15,000 left give or take. If you dont know when or if it was changed. I say start pricing around and get it done asap. If it goes, say bye to your engine.

Like Louie said, it's the first part of the car's upkeep to look into. If you don't know if it's been changed, changing it would be a very good idea. Other parts should be changed with it, the full laundry list could be found with a quick search. If it does snap, your valves will get toasted, and that's expensive.
