Freaking timing belt
I just replace the timing belt on my 6cyl. Some how the timing got off and it wouldn't start, so my cars been sitting for about 2 weeks until I can get a chance to work on it. I went to clean the engine bay this weekend and noticed that my brand new timing belt was torn! WTF! I have no idea how it happend. I think my car hates me. Anyone know what I can do to adjust my timing without having to take off the timing belt again.

Re: Freaking timing belt
uh, if your timing belt is torn you need to get it replaced, and if it jumped teeth you could have done some major damage to your engine. Who put it on for you? Dealer I hope....

Re: Freaking timing belt
when you had the belt replaced did you also change out your belt tensioner? I learned that the hard way when my belt snapped on me on my '92 Dodge Spirit 3.0 V6. One thing about Mitsubishi engine's, you HAVE to replace that belt on time if not, it'll give you hell everytime. Also, check your timing belt covers, make sure they're not rubbing on the belt that could cause damage.

I replaced the timing belt. When I said i thought it jumped a couple of teeth I meant when I put the tensioner on, not before I replaced the belt. I had a lot of trouble putting that belt back on. Any suggestions?
