Anyone interested in a 4 Inch exhaust?

I was thinking of starting to make 4" exhaust for the 1g awd and fwd e/t/l and 2g fwd e/t. It would be turbo-back and probably be in the $400-$500 price range. If you're interested let me know (post or pm me). Or just give your opinion.

Why the hell would anyone want 4 inch exhaust?? It's completely ridiculous and a waste of pipe. IMO.

Would 4" exhaust even fit? I would laugh if somebody wanted to put 4" exhaust on the N/T. This would be for the turbo guys only.

Yeah it does say "turbo-back" and it will fit.

But honestly, what is the point of a 4" exhaust!!?? The extra inch to inch and a half is completely useless. :bandhead:

Well when you're running a bigger turbo (not a 16g) i think it will make a difference. When my car is done I'll get it dynoed with the 3" and the 4" and see the difference, I'll also run it at the track and see what the results are.

I'm not shooting down any of your ideas or anything and you're right about the 16g. But as far as a bigger turbo goes, like even a 20g, 4" is still pretty damn big. But let me know how the tests go regardless, and prove me wrong.

Re: Anyone interested in a 4 Inch exhaust?

Well first off, bigger the exhaust the better the flow...

It wouldent make a difference on small turbos or even medium sized ones (20g, 50trim). I think it might be usefull on high horsepower beasts. Lots of supras go 4" for the high HP applications, but some dyno #s would be great. Oh, and for $500 and turboback thats a damn good price and you will never have to worry about restrictive exhaust.

Re: Anyone interested in a 4 Inch exhaust?

yeah but if you go too big you loose horse power because now, instead of using the movement of the pistons to push the exaust out of the engine you're almost sucking out. It can cause problems, I've seen lots of my friends with civics (usually boosted) do 3 1/2" exhaust and loose hp. I think that Whathits14 was right about the car needing to be a beast. You should be pushing a lot of hp before your go much bigger than 3"

He is selling it for a TURBO dsm. None of that bullshit applies to turbo cars. Bigger is better.

IMO if you need more than a 3'', it's time to run an open downpipe at the track. Buschur sells a 3.5 which very few cars can justify... but 4'' is just silly.

Re: Anyone interested in a 4 Inch exhaust?

Why would you need backpressure in a turbo car?
From what i have heard bigger is better for exhaust

Re: Anyone interested in a 4 Inch exhaust?

Well i have seen a supra with 5" exhaust and they have tons of power and they arent "silly" but everyone is justified to their own opinions. and like whatisthis said at $500 dollars thats a steal, and i think he might be selling it for around $400, i personally think that sounds like a great idea
