overheating
alrighty so its been crazy hot here lately, upwards of 40 degrees C or upwards or 90 F.. and i was parked at a coffee shop this afternoon and suddenly my coolant came barreling out of the overflow container.. so i thought maybe its my thermostat.. so i got a little bit of ice and water, threw it in after turning the car off and then once it was at normal operating temp, i started it again, cranked the heat and drove the piss out of it for 2 minutes.. now its ok and the temp needle is stable. my question is this: should i replace the coolant? should i replace the thermostat? i'm not too worried if i have to do either cause they're both things i can do myself.. any opinions?

any air bubbles in the coolatn line? Jack the front of the car up and let it run with the radiator cap off.

Changing the thermostat probally wouldn't hurt

yea...
This happened to my friends 240 but its upwards of almost 110 here. We let it cool off for a little bit hopped back in the car. And I drove it home since hes not so great at 5-Spd. Well on the way home it rose to like less then 1 bar away from the 2 white solid ones. What is the Mixture ratio of Antifreeze and water? Is there anyway we can find out if its the Thermostat?

Usually coolant shoud be %50 of each. But remember, antifreeze is just that. Anit-Freeze. Prevents freezing. So if you live somewhere where it doesn't get cold very often, use more water and less antifreeze. Water dissipates heat much better.

Hummm , *nissanfanatic* thats partly true , the coolant
has chemicals activated by water , and also disolved by water , if you dont live in a *hell freezes over* area , 50/50 coolant/water is the best option because water boil's at a much lower temperature the coolant . And to aswer some question , a thermostat thats stuck's closed will cause overheating its a cheap part , replace it if possible Best ofr luck to all
