Yes, first the 3rd gen is like NONEXISTANT if you really consider, basicly because it was like a bypass model because first the 4th gen got way better engines, better suspension and everything, kinda sucking for the 3rd gen but its still pretty good. Im sure the 4th gen handles better but it just depends on what you like. And there is a difference in models of course.

Re: Third Gen Vs Fourth Gen Handling

could always do what im considering, just take a nice tight race suspension from another car (in my case a c6) and go trought hell to get it on your camaro... this way you have the best handling camaro of the generation.

Re: Third Gen Vs Fourth Gen Handling

I would think that they would handle about the same. I do know that small things can go a long way. Koni shocks and eibach lowering springs made my 89 handle very very well. I was wanting the rebuild the front end steering, put bigger sway bars in and then get wider tires and it would be a good autocross car.....I guess I would want a manual too and it would work.

For some strange reason, Mr. Lous, i was thinking the same thing, but wasn't to sure. I know on Gran Turismo 4 (i know it's just a game) the 1988 Iroc-z concept, handles way better than the 2000 ss, way better, but the ss is way more powerful. The iroc, all n/a, put out like 570-600 hp, with a load amount of torque (it was redicilous), but the ss put out like 750 hp, the game numbers kinda suck though, and you can only do so much.

third gen pwns all no but seriously, they're close, if either is better its the third gen... handling is what the third gen was good at, since it was losing to the fox body stang in straight line. w/ stiff springs and good shocks, my car rides on rails

Re: Third Gen Vs Fourth Gen Handling

the sixers may have an advantage here, since our engine is completely behind the front axle, my car handles pretty well

Re: Third Gen Vs Fourth Gen Handling

It all depends on the conditions of parts in the vehicle such as shocks and bushings and springs but all being equil. I would have to say 3rd gen as well IMO. Although they are pretty damn close.

yea but ur sixer is completely cast iron correct? i have alluminum intake and heads... most third gens only have alluminum intake, but mine isn't a factory engine lol. i don't think too much of a difference will be found from 6 to 8, besides our main weakness is the solid rear axle... not the weight distribution (even tho it could be better)

Re: Third Gen Vs Fourth Gen Handling

I know the WS.6 is VERY close to 50/50 with the LS1 in it, thanks to the lightweight motor.

well if that's so then urs can't get any better, but i always thought that urs was more like 51/49 or 52/48... anyway like i said before, weight isn't our real weakness

Re: Third Gen Vs Fourth Gen Handling

The LT1 block is iron but the heads and intake manifold are aluminum. Still weights more than the 3.8 by a little over a hundred pounds with the accessorys though.
