Death by backfire?
Help, please.
I just finished bolting in a new 4.3L longblock in our '94 Safari (CPI), fired right up but the oil gauge seemed a little slow to respond. Shut it off, reprimed, replaced the distributor, tried to start, backfired...opps - had the rotor pointing at #3 rather then #1. Corrected, double checked for TDC and tried again to start. It's dead. Checked the ignition, timing light says it's firing right. Can smell fuel in the exhaust and intake....nothing changed between running and not running except the backfiring. I suppose my boneheaded-gotta-get-it-done-yesterday attitude cost me, again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Death by backfire?
Yes, I checked for error codes and reset the computer.
Thanks |
