UPDATE! Car is naked and ready for install-have questions

Okay so i took everything out for the install and came across shit loads of problems, but was able to get through except one. I fucking stripped one bolt that goes to the 02 housing to the turbo. the little bastard is fucking welded on there, i swear to god. Im gonna have to take it to a machine shop and have them get it out one way or another. The one thing that sux is i wasnt able to advance from there. I have a few questions before i begin again though.

1. What is the best and easy way to put the turbo, 02 housing, and manifold back together? Should i just build it out of the car, and then reinstall everything back together as in one piece? I was thinking of doing that. I would bolt the manifold on and then the downpipe to the 02.

2. What are the torque specs of the manifold? What else do i need to torque to spec? If you guys direct me to a site with all the specs, id appreciate that. I looked in vfaq.com but found nothing.

thanks guys!

Re: Car is naked and ready for install-have questions

I would first try putting it in as one piece from the top if you can. When I did my swap I put the manifold on first, then the turbo + o2 housing together. The hard part this ways was that I needed a second person to be under the car to lift the turbo up in to the manifold. And the bolts took for ever to line up from the manifold to the turbo.

About the torque specs I'm dont remember so you will have to wait for someone else to answer that.

Good luck and have fun, I had fun installing my turbo. I felt like I really learned something when I did it.

Re: Car is naked and ready for install-have questions

a good way for mitsu turbos is to bolt on the manifold first ,then bolt the turbine housing and the O2 housing together, then bolt it up with 4 bolts to the manifold.... i had my friend hold it up from under the car as i loosely treaded the bolts. so it hung by it self... then you toqure everything down . next plop in the compressor side and put the clap around it and the hard part is done.

atleast thats the way i did it.

Okay so installed everything okay. the only problem i have now is the 1g j pipe. It seems like the ic pipe is not stretching over that long. Is there some way around this or am i just gonna have to buy the j pipe for the 2g? Or do i buy the 90 degree elbo that connects to the ic pipe and the j pipe? Anyone have a 2g with a 1g j pipe on that can let me on a little secret on hacking it?? Thanks guys!!
