1998 4.3L 4WD - Replace Water Pump

Hi,

I am trying to replace the water pump on my 98 Blazer and was wondering if there are any tricks to keeping the pulley wheel still while i loosen the hexagon bolt on the fan?

I used a large adjustable wrench and gave it a swat with a hammer to break things free

There is a tool available that works great, but I didn't have it available when I changed my water pump on my '98 last weekend. I was able to use a flatbar wedged in behind the pulley to hold it still while tapping a large crescent wrench fitted over the nut until it broke free. The rest of the job was a breeze.
