Talking Introduction

I just thought I would take a little bit to introduce myself and my SUV (not truck) since I plan to visit this board from time to time. By the way BlazerLT I wasn't imitating your name I have used the name BlackLT and BlueLT for a long time because I use to own a 1993 Black Z28 Camaro which had the LT1 engine. I now own a red Blazer so I figured changing it from black to red would be a good idea.

My name is Dustin and I am 24 years old. I have a wife, son, and another baby on the way. I am a painter right now but I am in college earning a degree in Computer Network Engineering. I drive a Red 1995 LT Chevy Blazer with a 4.3L Vortec. I bought it for $3,600 (a steal) back in feb. '05. This thing is perfect inside and out. It has all the options, fully stocked and loaded. I am only the second owner. The Blazer was bought right in town back in 94-95 and traded back in to the same dealer when I came along and bought it. It had a sticker of $6,999 but I knew the guy and he gave me and big discount and a lot for my trade so I ended up getting it for nearly half the price. It had a pink bumper from fading when I got it and a few scratches on the paint in places but since I am a painter those were no problem. I fixed all the paint up top and repainted the under carriage black. I added a brush guard to the front and have replaced only the alternator and starter since I got it. I got bigger tires (though not mudders) and put a flow master exaust on it last month. I treat tis thing like a child. I change the oil on time every 3,000 miles and wash it every time I go off road unless I just want it to look dirty. It has no defects at all on the interior which is black leather. My rear driver side power window stoped working a while back but I don't really care much since I never sit back there. My blazer looks good, runs good, and makes me happier than any car I have ever owned. I like to just get on it from time to time and make those big tires scream. I read somewhere that the '95 Blazer had more torque than any other mid sized SUV in '95. That is the main reason I bought it. As you all know torque is what gives a car its low end power, like in a camaro or mustang. It's also what gets you moving when towing large things. After owing a Camaro and a Blazer I would have to say this Blazer would have put up a good fight in the quater mile. It wouldn't win because the Blazer is heavier but it wouldn't be far behind. In 4 Lo this thing has more power than a Camaro could ever even dream of, to bad it can't go very fast in 4 Lo. I was messing around once in 4 Lo and I stoped completly and stomped the gas, I swear that trucks front tires nearly came up off the ground. It slung my head back and scared the sh-t outa me.

Well thats a bit about me and my Blazer. I will post a picture of it eventually.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Hey BlazerLT, ever think of putting a brush guard on that Blazer of yours? Might make it look a lot meaner. I can't picture mine without one anymore, it would look funny.

Guess not all Blazers look good with a brush guard. I added a picture of my Blazer as my Avatar, I will try and upload some larger pictures of it soon and post a link here.

Re: Introduction

I am a little more partial to the little "Brahma" brush/push bars. The compact chassis of these trucks IMO looks better with the smaller guards. The big ones that span the headlamps to me, in my mind; make the truck look like it's trying to look bigger. The compact bar actually accentuates and makes the truck look "tougher" without it looking like it's being held down by such a big bar - but that's just me. Tell me to shut up, I can take it. Good looking rig, I hope she serves you well!

Re: Introduction

Yea, no offense bro, but that guard does not match your truck at all.

The good thing about my guard is it can go both ways. I can remove the headlight bars if I want but it looked a bit silly when I did. When I was putting those pics up last night I noticed my truck didn't look right. I thought it was looking a bit funny myself. Guess my truck just isn't very picture friendly. It looks a lot better up close though. Sometime in the next few months I am going to add a 6 inch lift and swampers so the guard will match a lot better. As for weight, the guard is hollow inside and it barly weighs 15 lbs. I am going to go see about getting the front lifted 1/2-1 inch today which might fix my front end looking like its pointing down. I just think it was because of how the truck was setting that made it look funny.
