my mk4 escort
alritght everyone,
i have manage to fix my cooling fan,indicators and heater but i changed the relays round but i was just woundering is the fusebox supose to get hot ? bcos when i changed the relays round when i took the old cooling fan relays out the plastic from the fusebox was melted a bit in the slot for were the relay goes !! what should i do about this ? is the fuse box supose to get hot after like 5mins running ? and now i changed the cooling fan relay round the fan is on all the time from soon as i turn the ignition on !! also how hard is it to do an engine transplant as i am looking to change me 1.3 and hoepfully get a rst engine ? many thanks Mike also does anyone no were i can take me car to get the engine all properly tuned and all the car fully sorted ? cheers everyone |

Not all relays are set up the same. Even though they might look alike. I'd guess that since the fan is running all the time that the relay you are using is different from the original.

No, your fuse box is not suppose to get hot and melt. Burned contacts can create a lot of resistance resulting in fire. I would reccommend replacing the fuse box or the connectors at the very least. Your faulty fuse box may be the cause of your original problem.
A friend of mine had multiple circuit failures. When I removed the fuse box from it's mounting, the back side was charcoal although it looked fine from the front. |
