you'd have to retro- fit
How ever there is a new cheap alternative called red tek 12a. If you have R-12 or 134 all you need to do is evacuate the system and put that stuff in. It blows colder than 134 and it works good. So wheather you have a 1970 or a 2004 like me it can go in both. Hope that helped.
