thought i post this vid up for everyone to see. very biased if u want my opinion, especially when they are being raced at the same time. how is the biker suppose knee drag on a turn when the freaken car is in the way?

The first video was done as a joke. That porsche would be absolutely obliterated by an R1, even if I were riding it. And honestly, i've ridden my R6 harder than that on the way to the grocery store.

As far as Top Gear goes, I take it purely for entertainment value. They have a history of giving false information in the name of ratings, especially when it comes to motorcycles.

Ya especially the manner that old British prick manages to persuade his impression.

admittingly, the R1 rider isn't riding as hard as he should, but, a porsche with good set up is most likely to outhandle and outbrake sportbikes, it just won't win race and lap times like bikes. R1 rider definitely backed off in this vid to make Prick's ego look good. I'm not sure what year that was, but it had to be 98...99 if R1 was dubbed "the King of all motorcycles." Also from safety standpoint, the damn cage was blocking the bike, didn't leave any room for him to pass, I noticed the rider backing off from the car into those slow corners and hairpins.

I liked the Ducati rider, at least he gave some effort for the comparison, the rear slide was a nice touch but lost time there, and there other instances which could've been pushed harders as the Lambo. And it was 999, not the 999R or a liter bike, so I don't know why he'd have so much trouble keeping the front down, he was showboating obviously.

ya.. those are bull... look at this though... take F1 cars and motoGP bikes and put them against one another... on the same track the F1 car does beat the bike.. but not by much...

also think how much more the F1 car is than the moto GP bike.... at least 10 times more... MINIMUM....

so when it comes to people on the street that want to race bikes... i will Always put my money on the rocket... period.

yeah the fastest car i've raced was a 1996 toyota supra TT with 460hp and i owned him from a dig and a roll....the dig being up to 100mph...the roll up to 150....the only thing i've seen beat a bike....a HAYABUSA at that is the TT Lingenfelter Corvette....i'm sure theres others but i've only seen 3 instances of that happening...another one was of a guy in a 900hp viper beating a stock hayabusa barely.....i wouldn't ever put a car against a bike unless i knew the car could pull like a bitch....

PS- Has anyone ever seen that video of the 500hp turbo hayabusa? HOLY SHIT!!...i'm sure it's old news...but i don't care how much you stretch that thing...500hp is not even going to be used at any point in time during a run at the track...it would be feathering the throttle so you don't end up doing an ass plant....sheesh...

That is true for some supercars, but there is no way a porsche of that level has a chance of outdoing that bike in any catagory. If it were a Carrera GT, maybe so. Anything short of a super exotic, no way. If you've got a rider thats out there dragging the bodywork and pushing it to its limit, you'll be hard pressed to find a car to compare to a modern R1. Granted, you're limited by ground clearance on the stock machines, and a good set of race skins and some rearsets can make a huge difference (even I replaced my rearsets for ground clearance on my R6), but in stock trim it should make short work of that porsche, given an accurate test and a rider thats capable. The biggest problem with bike vs car comparisons is finding a rider than can use what the bike can offer. There simply arent many. Its far easier to push a car to its limit than a bike, and when you add in bias or, in this case, blatant stupidity, you end up with really skewed results.

Then again, you should know somethings up when the host calls riders homosexuals before the test even begins.

Obviously Mr. Clarkson often stores his balls in the glove compartment to know the difference.

It's so damn easy to push a car, I've done it with eyes closed compared to riding the bike. But most pro drivers do not realize what an effort it is to push a bike to that level, and it's 5 times as difficult.

What so funny is they tried to portray how slow R1 is even under the hands of "three times champion British superbike," gee, I didn't know the redbacks were this slow . And then they picked an intermediate pro driver for the car to show the car does it by itself.

Few months back Blayne (aussieidiot) said there was an article of R1 VS WRX Sti, turns out more or less they were equal in lap time through London or something. Sti could corner faster, and R1 could get out faster. Sti used all its rubber, and R1 had 50% left.

btw Gap, did you start dragging the stock pegs on the R6?

Yes. They didn't have feelers on them when I bought it but I started dragging them anyways. I crashed and ripped the left rearset off shortly after so I figured it was a good time to do an upgrade. I went with woodcraft rearsets and it did the trick.

I had a Yamaha before, FZR, and the gearbox was less than perfect. how notchy or clunky is the R6 to your experience, do you often misshift or get stuck in neutral/false neutral?

It's not bad at all. The only missed shifts i've had have been right after I bought the bike before I adjusted the lever to fit my boot. Other than that i've only missed 1 and it was user error.
