As many know, I've been spending the last year and a half on my project Fiero, an 86 base model that I planned on turning into a V6 5-speed Speedster convertible. I was working on dropping the fuel tank one day when I noticed a small crack near one of the front engine cradle mounts. At first the broken weld seemed minor, but during the disassembly of the rear cradle I discovered hidden rust damage that caused the unibody to buckle around the mount area. Quick checks with a laser and many consultations with the areas best body technicians revealed what I feared all along - the cost to repair the unibody exceeded what an entire OK-condition Fiero would cost, and even then there was no guarantee the car would ever handle the way it was meant to.

So, that being said, off to the salvage yard she goes. Someday I will get another Fiero, but for now a certain Dodge SUV needs my help. If anyone is in need of parts, I'll be happy to provide prices lower then anyone because hey, at the risk of sounding cliche, Everything Must Go (my wife won't let my Ramcharger come home till my Fiero is gone)

I also have a performance built 3.1 shortblock for sale - It boasts .20 over Sealed Power pistons with moly rings, all new bearings, the original GM performance parts roller cam (stock on 1995-up cars with a 3.1) a freshly machined crank, and a high volume oil pump. Just toss on a timing chain set and a Fiero 2.8L top end and stock Fiero front timing cover with stock accesories, and gain plenty of HP and torque for your GT. Over $900 went into this engine, it's yours for only $500.

Central Wisconsin. I have some contacts as far as truck freight goes, so I can probably make reasonable shipping arrangements.

Also available are aluminum 3100SFI heads and intake... the heads and lower intake are actually torqued onto the shortblock now, though the valves are only the original stock ones. (I did cut the seats and valves and lap them before reassembly) Rockers, *adjustable* rocker studs (because valves were cut, the new studs must be adjustable) and pushrods are needed.The heads were shaved .003, but no porting had been done.

The entire engine was supposed to be put back in my '95 Beretta with the original SFI system installed, but I later changed plans and parted out the Beretta, keeping the 3100 it for the Fiero, intending to use iron heads, a Mallory dual point distributor, and an Edelbroch 4bbl intake. The reason it was pulled in the first place was it blew a rear head gasket at 115,000 miles, washing out cylinder #6, warping the rear head, and also toasting the main bearings. (Hence .020 over on the cylinders, .010 under on the main journals, and .003 off the heads) I rebuilt the entire shortblock myself (In an ASE certified 180 hour Automotive Engines training program) less the mill and lathe work. I started on the valve train but never finished it up. Everything was checked 3 times and checks out OK. The main bearing clearance is a bit high, but is within specs. The high volume oil pump was added to insure the crank "floats" in plenty of oil and doesn't develop premature grind or knock. I also sealed the oil filter bypass to keep pressure up and also guarantee clean oil at all times. One who was overly concerned could have the main caps shaved to tighten the clearance by .001 or so.

Are you selling the interior parts from your dusted fiero?
if so how good does the dash look?

The dash looks ok EXCEPT for the cracks around the far side vents, a problem common to Fiero dashes. I'm afraid with this ailment you might not find much use for it.
