power window motor replacement

I have a 96 cavalier, z-24. The drivers side window motor seems to be going bad. I took the door panel off to inspect and try to remove the motor but it appears to be riveted on. I would like some info on how to remove the bad motor and how to reinstall the new one.

There does not appear to be a whole lot of room inside the door to do a lot. Is this a project for the ripoff chevrolet shops or is this something I can do myself?

Thanks for any info, it is appreciated. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon as the wife is really hammering me about the window not working.

Angry

We have to same year & model and also the same exact problem. Any information would be greatly appreciated. We would like to be able to fix it ourselves without having to shell out big bucks to a garage.

Re: power window motor replacement

there must be somting with this make and modle.
I got the same exact car and year and the same problem.
If I put the window down and then I want to put it up, it goes slow and only a little bit at a time.
I have to wait a minute or two and then try again.
the longer i wait the more it will go up.
I had the motor replaced by chevy about 6 years ago when it was still under warrantie.
So like these other two guys I need help also.

I found out you can use screws and nuts instead of rivets..
