Got a new problem! (vents)
Alright well I'm working with a 1996 Blazer that I've been trying to find the red connector that needs to be shorted out to get to reprogramming the keyless entry....
Anyways, I still haven't figured that out and now my vents aren't working... (only on floor and defrost, not coming out where I select them to) What could I have unhooked or accidently moved while working near the trw box or under the steering column? I'm assuming it is just a vacuum leak as the fan turns on and I can control fan speed and air does come out the defrost and floor... I also need to know where to look for the vacuum lines on a 96 blazer... as I'm not sure. I think I'm going to take the dash off tomorrow and look for that damn red connector before I start screwing anything else up.... thanks for any info! |

Re: Got a new problem! (vents)
check all vacuum lines going to and from the engine.
They are easy to spot. You should also check out where the vacuum lines connect to the vent / defrost / heat selector behind the dash.

Re: Got a new problem! (vents)
well what general area are they located in? I don't want to start screwing around with stuff and ruin something else in the process...
I'll take more of a look tomorrow... I hope the dash is easy enough to take off, as I noticed it's got some torx or hex screws that need to be removed from the bottom as well... |

Re: Got a new problem! (vents)
just look for rubber lines coming off of the intake and also running to the vacuum ball in the engine bay.

Re: Got a new problem! (vents)
Thanks for the info... Found the line running to the ball was broken... so I took the broken chunk off, and reattached the thing... vents didn't work at first, but once I started the vehicle then they worked perfectly!
So really, thank you for all your help ![]() Now all I've gotta do is get the damn keyless entry working! |

Re: Got a new problem! (vents)
Did you replace the hose or just attach the unbroken piece?

Re: Got a new problem! (vents)
it was only about a 1/4th of an inch that had broken off... I'll get around to replacing the hose as it's definitely falling apart...
But obviously since it's so late I haven't had time to go about replacing the hose... and not only that but there aren't any car part stores open until monday |
