front strut removal...easy?
i have a 1997.5 regal gs. my front struts are getting soft. can anyone tell me the best way to replace them....I heard that they can be replaced through the engine compartment, no spring compressor required.
I know this is a GTP site, and appreciate the feedback, but Buick Regal site is not as good as this one. Also the Regal and GTP are almost mechanically identical. Why is it that GTP is a half second faster than the Regal....STOCK. |

Re: front strut removal...easy?
There really isn't that much of a difference in performance between the GTP and Regal GS and if there is its probably due to having different final drive gearing/ratios. And as for published ET times, I take them with a grain of salt. I've beaten GTPs with my Regal GS at the dragstrip.
On the front struts, the older Regals had a replaceable strut cartridge and it could be done on the car. However, on 97 and up the complete strut assembly must be removed from the car and you will need a strut coil spring compressor to swap out the strut. ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104s, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials
