seeking '98 w/t 4.3 5speed info

considering purchasing the truck to tow a very lightweight car trailer and honda civic's (2,200 lbs) to the track. id like to maintain 80mph on flat stretches. it seems that the automatics are hit or miss, so i am considering a 5 speed. wondering what you guys have to say about them. also, what axle ratio would be in these 1500 series trucks?

before anyone says get a v8, i am considering a particular truck because of an exceptional opportunity that is nagging me not to pass it. if the truck is underpowered, i have no qualms about fabricating a turbo setup and writing a new Eprom for fuel and ignition values. im mainly concerned with whether or not the 5speed can handle a few more foot lbs. im not an abusive driver for what its worth.

thanks for your time.

as long as you don't kick it around alont the 5 speed will work well for a while just hope the rear end is a 3.42 or better and you won't have many problems pulling the load at that speeds
