Riddle me this!
I noticed my transmission slipping when it went from 1st to 2nd gear about 2 weeks ago, right before I was about to take a long trip. The next day it was gone, so I though nothing of it. I left from Minneapolis, headed towards Grand Rapids, MI. It was cool and rainy so I left the A/C off and had the vent on the entire trip. Didn't feel any tranny slips the entire trip. The next day we drove from GR to Holland, MI (about 35-40 minutes) with the A/C on Max dur to temps in the 90s. About 20 minutes into the trip, I felt the tranny slip after accelerating from a dead stop. We got to the beach and stayed there for 2 hours. Came back to the truck, started it up and it was fine, no slips for the first 20 minutes, but then it came back, again with the A/C on. So the next day we are headed from GR to Cincinatti, OH. Its sunny out and warm again so I have the A/C on, this time on low. Once we ge to Ft. Wayne, IN, my Service Engine Soon (SES) light comes on and at the next stop I feel the tranny slip. We stop for gas, then I start the truck up again. Back onto the highway I don't feel any slip. Then again, after 20 minutes I feel it, worse from 1st to 2nd, better from 2nd to 3rd, nothing after that. We arrive at our destination and I bring the truck into the dealer. He turns the light off and says its error P1870 Trans Componant Slipping. I tell him i'll get it checked back in MN, he says the light will probably turn back on and to for sure get it checked when I get back. So after a couple days we leave from Cincy, headed for Cedar Rapids, IA. AGain, it was warm out, so I had the A/C on. By the time we got to Indianapolis, the SES light came back on and I felt some slippage. We get to Cedar Rapids later that night. The next morning, I start up the truck, with the SES light still on. We start heading towards Minneapolis with the A/C on, but decide that its cool enough to have the vent on instead. 45 minutes later, the SES light turns off. SO i leave the A/C off the rest of the trip and feel no slippages and the light stays off. Now my question is, what the heck would my A/C have to do with my Tranny?
Sorry about the length of the post, I just wanted to get the whole story!

What year is your Blazer, How many miles on it, When was the last time the transmission fluid and filter was changed? Go to auto zone and have your computer scanned, the code's are stored even if the SES lite is not displayed. Also the air conditioner has nothing to do with your transmission at all.

change that tranny fluid and filter ASAP !!
if it doesn't solve the problem, you haven't wasted any money cuz it's normal maintenance anyhow ... Quote:

AC uses the cooling system.
The transmission uses the cooling system as well. Your fluid needs to be changed and your tranny cooler needs to be flushed out. The fluid is thinning out to much due to it getting to hot. This is because of the cooling system having the extra load on it from the AC so it won't cool as well. I would: Flush the transmission and install new fluid and a new filter. Flush the cooling system and replace the coolant and the rad cap. Use a rad cap that is NOT an AC Delco.
