Adding a Tranny Plug

OK, I have searched high and low for some help on adding a Tranny Plug to my pan. I see several guys have done this and each said it was less than $10. My question is this, where did you mount the plug? Is there any special area or is the pan pretty much open all over to do this? Does your plug leak at all? Any name brand recommendations?

Re: Adding a Tranny Plug

I put my plug on the front side of the pan. Makes it easier reaching under to drain the oil and ATF at the same time, and it appeared to have the best clearance inside. I would not recommend putting it on the bottom of the pan. You'd get more ATF out but it would be the lowest point on the vehicle and very vulnerable. I bought a B&M drain plug kit at one of the auto part stores and it has never leaked. The only advice I'd give is to take that somewhere and get the internal bolt brazed on so you don't have to worry about keeping the insert from spinning when you loosen the drain plug.
