Rim Offset

what is the offset needed on a 4th gen? i found a site that sell corvette Z06 replicas gives 3 choices on the offset, 36mm, 56mm, and 58mm which one would be best? also could a 18x10.5 fit in the front with out rubbing?

Re: Rim Offset

lol, no one knows? wdf... do you think that have a 10.5 rim up front would help with control / suspension / connering by having such a big area on the ground? or would it just be more problems then its worth? lol, i cant believe 18 ppl viewed this thread and not 1 response.

oh and the offset im talking about, is how much of an offset does the rim need so i dont need to use a spacer?

I tried to figure this out about 5 years ago when one of my friends bought his ss, and the foregone conclusion between 4 of us was you can't go any wider than a 275/40/17 on the passenger side rear as with that tire (stock on the ss) you have about 1/2 inch of clearance between the tire and the fuel filler neck. I also believe the 18X10.5 will cause clearance issues in the front, unless you go with extremely low profile tires, basically wrap an elastic around the rim and watch out for potholes. Anyone else?

lol, if its a must then im gonna figure out how to get 10.5s upfront... lol, 10.5's will fit in the back tho right? the dude up a post or 2 said that it may make contact with the gas filler neck, so maybe that can be modifyed so i can get the rim in there?

9.5 is the widest you can go up front.

lol, if you have to use spacers, why ot just use a spacer that makes the rim hang outside the fender well by an inch... just heat the fender up and pull it out a lil bit to cover the over hang of the tire (or custom fender flares)... there you go 10.5 up front.

Re: Rim Offset

also, what about cutting out the inner fender wall and having new ones custom made? it would shrink the space of the engine bay by like 2 inches but it only really needs to be like 1 inch bigger on each side if 9.5 can fit i dont really see how 1 inch can make such a big diffrence that its imposible to do...

Re: Rim Offset

Any of them will fit w/o spacers.. 56mm is the one you want though..

You might have minor clearance issues upfront with the 18 X 10.5's couldnt tell you for sure though..

I had a bit of a time gettin mine to work properly.. Nothing a hammer didnt fix..

Hmm, just not worth it IMO. 9.5's would work just fine for you. Otherwise you would just be adding unnecessary weight to the front end, which isn't exactly the best thing to do.

Well the rim itself stays the same.. where it sits in your fenderwell is what changes..The more of a positive offset the wheel has, the farther they will sink into the wheel well.. the less of an offset, the farther they will stick out.. As far as I know, the corvettes and the 4th gen camaros share a 56mm offset (or vary similar)

I know you were talking about a 4th gen, thats why I said I wasnt sure about clearance..
