Unhappy Lack of motivation to work on models...

I've been working so hard on my scratchbuild, 6hours a day for two weeks. I'm just burned out completely. I want to work on my scratch built, but I pickup and x-acto and just have no motivation at all. I picked up another project to work on...cant do anything with it either. I'm going nuts. I want to work on my stuff, but I dont want to.

Today I picked up one of my Hot Wheels projects. So far I spent the longest time this week working on it...30minutes.

This sucks, and its driving me insane. Its making me bored out of my mind.

Re: Lack of motivation to work on models...

sometimes that happens to me. when i get a brand new kit i start on it as soon as possible. then the 2nd day is like "eh...", and the 3rd day is like "eehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...". you just need to take a break. coming to this forum always makes me want to go and build some models.

I'm hoping the ACME Club meeting next weekend will fire me up. I swear if this lasts more than a week I will shoot myself. I really wish I had a TIG welder right about now...just sit there watching the molten puddle float across the seam as it fills with filler rod. Its the most calming thing in the world to me.

I know how you feel. Usually I can get re-fired up just by visiting the hobby boards. Don't worry, it will pass, I guarantee it. When? Could be an hour, could be two months... - Mark

Re: Lack of motivation to work on models...

I know the feeling and i think the rest also do! What i do then is ; either i wait until the itch to build comes ( usually a few days) or i restrict myself to ,letīs say, maximum 30 minutes a day.
By doing the latter you will get more of an intense period, and wonīt burn yourself out with 6 hour buildpasses

One thing never to do is build for the sake of building. You MUST want to build, cos if you don't feel like it but do it anyway that's when mistakes & frustration sets in! (Did with me anyhoo)

Re: Lack of motivation to work on models...

I also have this exact feeling. Can't do anything.

I want to work a bit on my current project, but when I start, I find myself rushing the work and this is not what I usually do.

I think its because of the summer.

Well now that I'm on day two of painting my daughter's bedroom, I really have no motivation to paint anything else right now.
I did however learn the value of primer in painting applications outside of modeling. For example, without primer, yellow paint over blue paint will give you a really funky shade of green!

All you need to do is take a break from it, do something else. Go get some exercise. Read a book. Rent a movie. Models are supposed to be fun, when they become work this is what can happen. I can't/don't work on models all the time. Most of the time I'm nowhere near my bench, I build when I feel like it.

Hang in there, motivation will come back...take a break from it, and eventually it'll start eating at you, you'll get a brilliant idea, and you'll be back in the saddle.

You'll pay dearly for that comment .

You should have come over to Wayne's if you were so bored/uninispired, we worked on models most of the day (and part of Saturday too ). My Maranello is finished, his Cobra is almost finished. Very productive weekend.
