95 grand am

I have the car above and after the car warms up it wont drive. Thats if you put it in drive gear. The trans fluid is very burnt. they tell me that its probably a stuck valve in the transmission. You have to disconnect a wire to that valve then it will run. does anyone have a wiring diagram? or know what color the wire is? It's my daughters and i need to get it running. tia Ron

if the trans fluid is burnt, my best advice would be to go get the fluid and filter changed and that will most likely fix ur problem that you are having.

previous post inaccurate

I will try to decsribe the symptom. First the catalytic converter, plugs, wires,(these were original) and alternator have been replaced. basically the car runs for a distance fine. after turning off, and briefly being parked, it will not stay running period. it will chug and you cannot keep the motor running. it will restart fine. after perhaps 2 or 3 minutes of this it will revert to its normal state and run fine.

Re: 95 grand am

Almost sounds like a short somewhere. Have you noticed any loose wires? Plug wires or any other wires. Is the positive wire on the alternator covered with the rubber boot? I've had sparks arc off the alternator and ground to the engine making it run badly if at all. But as soon as it cooled down it would run. Could also be a bad plug wire, I know you said they's been changed but sometimes they are bad outta the box. Keep us updated, and welcome to Automotive Forums.
