Re: teg ls missing on hard throttle

Timing may be off 18degrees before top dead center. it may also be a bad knock sensor....the car at higher rpms may be advancing the timing. this would be due to a bad knock sensor. Are you still using the same amount of fuel?

Re: teg ls missing on hard throttle

only the vtecs had a knock synsor of that year, but the timing is @ 18btdc... i am running only little more fuel (26.25lb/hr @ 43.5psi) which is only 20c.c. more than stock... but what really baffles me is its the same setup i've been running for about 9 months... i gave the car to my wife... she wants new cams which ill ask more about later...

Have you done a compression and leak down test? If not do that and post up your #'s.

Re: teg ls missing on hard throttle

so your experiencing misfires. what did checking the spark and fuel tell you? random misfires or cylinder specific misfires?

99% of the time a misfire will occur due to spark problems, fuel problems, or low or uneven cylinder compression.

is the msd ign the only spark related mod you have on the car? any fuel mods?

how do you know you are misfiring????????

if you are misfiring. you will throw codes 71 - 74 (random misfires from cylinder 1 - 4). if you are misfiring, try going back to the oem ignition setup and see what happens.

also, why are you using the msd ignition for?????? what mods do you have that require you to upgrade your ignition system? my experience with the oem ignition system says it works very well.

if you are not misfiring, then, i am going to assume you are boggin in WOT, since you are suggesting your tps sensor. bogging in wot can be many things too. if youve already checked the voltage from the tps, how bout the map?

also if you have a vacuum gauge, you can check if a small vac leak is causing it. your not boosted are you? what does your idle vac readings say? wot vacuum readings?

bogging can occur due to fuel also. a very rich mixture in wot or part throttle will cause you to bog. im assuming you dont have a wideband to get the AF mixtures so, what you can do is have a friend follow behind you when you go into wot. if you have black smoke, pull the plugs to see if they are black.

a clogged fuel filter or injector will create bogging also. you can swap out the fuel filter to knock that out of the way. you can also use injector cleaner to see if that helps, or, swap out your injectors for a set of known working ones.

also, dont forget to check your throttle cable is good and working and check to see if the throttle body plate itself is opening properly.

i just noticed the mods in your sig.

im not really fimiliar with msd injectors but, are these peak n hold or saturated? cc?

you are using the b&m fpr? im assuming you have a fuel pressure guage to measure since you are changing fuel pressure settings. so where is your fuel pressure at in wot? idle? static?

also, im not familiar with the top speed cats, but, is this a hi flo cat or testpipe? a clogged cat will cause you to bog because it is restricting your exhaust system.

also you dont need the msd setup with your current setup. sell it and go pick up a vfac and dsm injectors

I agree 100% ignition systems are a waste of money and time, not to mention that they are a real pain in the ass sometimes too.
