'92 shadow won't start

Timimg belt slipped off. Is it possible for the timing to get so messed up afterbelt slips that the vehicle won't start. What's the corrective action?

I am not very experienced but when I did my timing it slipped some teeth the fist time (or I did it wrong) and when I put it back on and would not start.

This is the page I used to repair my 88 Shadow.

http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/enginetiming.html

Took a few times for me to get it exactly right and now I can have all belts off and on and timing redone in no time.
I must sound like a nerd but it was a pleasant experience to learn to do it for myself. The only thing I had to buy was the Torx socket set which Napa ordered for me. The one that fits the 88 main crank shaft pulley bolts is a NAPA NBT 10, at least that is what the socket has printed on it.

yes, if it is as much as a tooth off, it will not start. You also face the possibility of piston-to-valve contact and could have a bent valve thus ruining your compression in the engine.

Re: '92 shadow won't start

well, depending on what engine size u have in that vehicle, some are interference...while other's are "free-wheeling" so your engine can be safe wehn the belt snaps.

i'm guessing that you have the 2.2L SOHC engine, which is "free-wheeling" vs the 2.2L DOHC, which is "interference"

w/ the former version engine, all you haveta do is make sure that the timing marks line up. the latter version-- Mr '82 already explained it.
