i just got my car back from a napa shop where i had my new eibachs put on and as i'm driving home i notice that my car is running at about 210 degrees despite having a 180 degree stat. i can't remember the temps ever getting that high before, and i have to run the heater to get the temps back down to the 180 range. i know its not anywhere near the red line of 260 but my dads gpgt just cracked the engine block we think because of over heating so i'm a lil paranoid. i just got an ses light as well but i think thats just from stomping on the gas...what do you guys think the trouble could be?

Re: is this normal?
I have a 1990 gp, it usually run about 190 to 210 depending on weather conditions outside and whether the a/c is on or not. But I would double check to make sure the fluid level in the radiator and the resevior is were they need to be with antifreeze/coolant mixture, NEVER straight water

Re: is this normal?
did the overheating occur after the lowering kit was installed? They seem like unrelated issues. I would check for a possible intake leak, common on 97-99 3800 vin-k engines. it may be a co-incidence that it happened after the lowering kit was installed

Re: is this normal?
Since you lowered the car you may have an airflow problem to the radiator. There was another thread on the forum where a member was having trouble with the car running hot. His problem turned out to be a missing air deflector. If you removed yours then that could be causing less air to flow to the radiator and is increasing the temperature. 210 degrees is not that hot anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point.

Re: is this normal?
Nice call GTP. I didn't think of that one, that the lowering company may have removed the deflector to keep it from scraping.
