94 Voyageur SE 3.3 - cold air always on?
Hi there, I bought a 94 SE 3.3L for the purpose of going fishing, and hopefully to tow a small boat.
The van has been running good with no engine/trans problem thus far, but recently after a car wash, I noticed that there is always cold air coming through the vents, regardless of whether the A/C is turned on or not. I hope that if there are anyone out there that experienced this problem, and have a remedy or suggestions on how to troubleshoot this. I had my mechanic check it out, but he told me there was no problems/ leaks with my a/c. The compressor comes on only when the a/c button is depressed, and seems to be working properly. Another weird thing that happened one day is that the air flow was going only under the passenger side, and not going to any other vents regardless of which mode I selected. That issue went away after I left the car in the sun for a day? I'm just not sure if the continuous cold air coming out of the vent will cause a bigger issue down the road. Any suggestions on what it might be? Thanks in advance, VB |

Quote:
You say the compressor only comes on when the ac button is pushed which is correct , if this is the case the air coming out of the vents when the ac button is not on and the compressor is "not" running then it can't be any colder than the outside air . The air conditioning can only run if the compressor is cycling on and off . Not sure what you are seeing if the compressor "only" comes on when the ac is pushed . It's impossible to get air conditoned air when the compressor is not on . |
