new CD player .... finally

I finally got around to installing the new CD player and changer in my car. I have been using the factory player for more than a year now. It's an alpine cda-9853, I will post some pics when I get around to taking the rest of them (the ones of it actually installed). I don't care for the plastic install kits but my efforts at fabricating one out of metal didn't turn out to well, so I had to use one.

nice little unit, you should like it

there have been rumors of problems with the 9855, but I haven't heard of any problems with the 9853

the early 985x models had problems with the swing face locking up, I sure hope it's not one of those

it's not really any different than the 6 buttons on the 9833 ... just that you have to be in the right mode for it to do the right thing - and the manual says NOTHING about that.

well, I couldn't tame the response with my EQL .... so I got a DQT (digital 1/3 oct EQ) with the little remote thing (DDC). I have not adjusted it yet, but the stereo still sounds good - that's a good sign, you can't fix major problems with an EQ. I guess I am gonna have to post new pics on my sounddomain profile.
