First car. Scion xB vs Chrysler PT Cruiser
I'm looking at buying my first car and wondering which one you guys think is better, the scion xb or the chrysler pt cruiser. Space is important to me and so is it being economical. I know the scion gets better mileage but im wondering which one needs the least maintenance and which is more fun and an overall better car. thanks

Lemme get this straight - you're looking at a new PT Cruiser? You'd be stuck in the thing for years before your loan payoff got down to the vehicle's value. Sure, PTs hold value better than most other "domestics", but it can't touch a Toyota. The advantage of the Scion is that it wouldn't take you long to be able to trade it in for a profit (especially if you can put some money down). As for economy . . . my Malibu, with its 170hp 190lb-ft V6, gets better overall fuel economy than a standard PT cruiser. If you're buying new, reliability shouldn't be a problem with the cruiser - it's supposed to have decent initial quality. But over the long term, I think you'd be better off with the Scion.
Of course, I'd prefer the xA. But the key thing to remember is this: you're going to be the one driving it. You're going to be the one spending the most time in it. It'll be YOUR car, so your opinion is the one that's the most important. Do you want to live with the xB's wacky styling, and the looks you'll get from people (some of envy, some of "what's a cardboard box doing on the road?") for years? On the flipside, can you handle the PT Cruiser's poor in-class fuel economy, poor resale value (if you're buying new), and poor acceleration (not that the xB's a hotrod or anything). Which car appeals the most to you? The xB's probably the best choice, but it all comes down to your personal opinion.

Re: First car. Scion xB vs Chrysler PT Cruiser
you dropped the honda? good choice, they're too common. well, the XB is a good choice too. the PT has 150HP and the XB has 108HP. The XB is made by toyota, which is very reliable car, and rarely has any problems. I havent had any trouble with the PT, but I've only had it a year. Come to think of it when my friend was deciding to get a car, he was torn between the PT and XB also. He went with the PT because he said it felt like a higher qualliy made car. But those XB's look pretty sweet!

Re: First car. Scion xB vs Chrysler PT Cruiser
im definetely going to say get the xB, many people think that since its a brand new car in the states that it hasnt been out, but it has been out many years, just not in the united states. yes it is made by toyota, which is probably one of the most reliable brands to date. the xB actually has a lot more room then it seems from the outside. ive never been in or driven a PT, but i have been in a xB and i can say that it is comfortable and people will look at you all day. Some people dont like the inside the way the dash and guages are laid out, but thats why you go to look at a car before you buy it. good luck!
