305's on HD factory wheels?

Ok. a lot of threads talk about 285/75r/16 tires on the 7.5" factory 2500HD wheels, but do any of you have 305/70r16's on the factory wheels? I know that the height is the same, but I was wondering if they would be too "pinched" on the skinny rims, and also worried about rubbing the fender liner on turns. The bars are turned up 8 turns.

I bought some cast wheels from eBay and am finally getting around to getting a set of Yokohamas for them. 285's or 305's? Hmmm...

The 305's will prolly rub the valence and inner fender a little when turned.You might need a 2 inch body lift on your HD which would give it more if a bad ass look and allow 305's.If we still had that truck it would have that and some airbags under the shocks by now along with a magna charger.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going with the 285's on Wednesday. Trading my 265's and stamped wheels in on them.

The truck has rear air bags and onboard compressed air, as that is what I do for a living. None are available for the torsion front without extensive modification. I like lifted trucks, but my kids can't get in it now as it is. Step bars next weekend.

I put a set of 305/70 Goodyear AT/S on a 01 2500HD. They rubbed only the bumper lower valance at full turn, but if the suspension was compressed at all it almost ate the whole bumper up! Please crank the bars some, this will help a little. The guy drove on them until he traded the truck in, and he was a farmer, so I guess they never rubbed as bad as I saw when I was servicing it.

I do have the bars cranked 8 turns, which is almost 2" in height. I'm sticking with the 285's to avoid any rubbing on turns.

You should probably be okay then. He didnt have his cranked any, and I did it 4 turns which almost eliminated the rubbing issue.

I chose the Yokohama 285's. Nice looking tire. I had them on my last truck. They clear the fender liners fine, but I've got to trim the valance just a hair to clear on turns.
