Heater control, vacuum line 97 Malibu

I've cleaned the heater/ac control as instructed in this forum. It was pretty dirty. However, I was hoping that is would help with the control switch (in some way) that controls the air going to the defroster, floor or vents but nothing happened. Before I put the entire control back I had connected everything. After finding that there was no difference in the control, I disconnected all the vacuum line on the back. No vacuum in any of the lines. There are two lines which I am assuming is the main line where everything is shut off. An orange line and a brown line which goes over to the control itself which has a cluster of different lines. My question is, where does the orange line start from so that I have an ideas where to go next. I know that on the engine, the main access. line is a off white or very light gray line. This I checked from the sticker under the hood, but where does it go to change to the orange line which feeds the control? Hayes doesn't cover any "vaccum diagram" on the inside of the car.
