Re: what all would make it go into failsafe mode
hey, rather than start a new thread about a question you just got answered in another thread...simply POST AGAIN in that same original thread. as to your question, quite a number of things could cause it to go into failsafe mode. do a search, as this has happened many many times to people on here

Re: what all would make it go into failsafe mode
here's a freebie: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...light=3rd+gear
possible problems include atx computer, electrical connections, and possibly others. best to just go get the codes read from the diagnostic port. if you have a datalogger or know someone that has one, that's your best bet. OR you can read the codes with an analog voltmeter. here are directions to do so: http://www.stealth316.com/2-diagcodes91-93.htm OR you could take it to the stealership and let them charge you 70 bucks to hook it up to their fancy shmancy expensive diagnostic computer. don't bother with autozone, or chain auto stores, they don't have the diagnostic connection to hook up to our cars, unless if your car is a 96+ 3000GT/Stealth. i'm pretty sure they would have OBDII equipment.

Re: what all would make it go into failsafe mode
no, something is wrong. You don't want to just reset the ECU, and see if it goes away. You want to pull the code and figure out what the problem is. Nobody here is psychic, we can't tell you what is wrong with it...we can only tell you to pull the codes.
