Whining noise

My car makes this whining noise every time i hit 3500 rpms and it never fails. It doesnt do it in fisrt gear at all but second, third and forth. Its like a tire whining almost but it only does it when it hits like 3500 rpm then when it passes that rpm it stops. Could it have anything to do with gutted precats?. It seems to mabey slow down when it happens to but not very much. Please help!

a dying turbo would give you a constant whine based upon boost levels. One of my buddies has a dying 9b in his RT/TT although he still drives it around all the time. You only hear the whine on it only when you hit 13 PSI or higher, but every car would be different nn the levels they kicked in. If he had a dying turbo, it wouldnt stop doing it after 3500 rpms.
