Re: Isuzu Manual - New Upload

Hi all, I just purchased a 2001 Trooper and need to find info on changing the timing belt. 67K mi without a change on it. If anyone wouldn't mind, could you send me the manual at [email protected]? Thanks a million!

Re: Isuzu Manual - New Upload

67k is way to soon.

most are going about 100-120k.

There have been some recent posts of folks changing them at 155k and 175k.

Unless you do a lot of towing or off roading I would wait another 40k.

Since I am new to the Isuzu family, I have a question about these timing belts. If/When they break, is there any damage to the engine... i.e. heads, valves and such? I really don't know much about Isuzu other than what friends who own them (and are not mechanically inclined) have told me.

Re: Isuzu Manual - New Upload

I can't upload now due to connection speed, but just an FYI, the manual covers Isuzus from '99-'02. 1994 is quite a bit different.

Lightbulb TIMING BELT - replace it as recommended, or lose your engine? The choice is yours.

DUDE...if you allow your timing belt to BREAK, you're going to have some troubles. DO NOT let that happen. My engine was DESTROYED when my timing belt "slipped" ever so slightly after being worn. DO NOT go beyond the recommended milage for your timing belt unless you want to REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE as I just did. Yes, it hits itself when the timing belt slips.

Have the job done professionally - and by someone who is familar with idiosyncracies of the Isuzu engine. Or else, my friend.
