2000 cavalier keeps dying
First.. I searched.. but didn't see anything related to this. If I missed something common please point me to it. Okay.. Car runs for 20 - 25 min. then just shuts off. Let it sit for 10 min. and it will start and drive away.. don't let it sit that long and it will just spit and sputter and try and start but immediately die. Each day it was almost 100 outside and I had < 1/2 tank of gas. 93K miles. Is this common in any way for these cars?

Re: 2000 cavalier keeps dying
If you can, get it to die at your house. Then check for fuel and spark, then go from there.

it kinda sounds like your not getting enough fuel to keep it running. If it is sputtering that means your fuel pump is going bad. your looking at like 300 bucks to replace that. but a common problem on cavy's are the spark plugs and wires. they're knowing for coming lose. just ran into that problem. didnt stall the car but sputtered like crazy. but check your fuel pump/filter and then if that doesnt work, check your charging system

Thanks all.. just replaced the plugs/wires.. double checked to make sure.. filled the tank up.. no stalling for 3 days until I get under 1/2 a tank. Let it sit for 5 min. Started right up.. drove it to QT.. filled the tank up.. has stalled since. In my mind that sounds like a fuel pump. I already replaced the filter.. since this is fuel related.. anyone know if QT would reimburse me (with their guarented gas program).. Probably not for the pump but I would think they would pay for the filter.

Re: 2000 cavalier keeps dying
I'd look at the possiblity of the fuel pressure regulator. Also dump some fuel injector cleaner in your vehicle & see if high octane gas helps at all.
