Question honda versus mustang

ok this is my question i have a 2000 civic hx(yeah i know it slow but keep reading) the reason that i bought this car is because it is the slowest civic with vtec. i was planning on trading out the engine that i have for a b16(which is the integra gsr). and i figured that would be the best way to go. but since i got this car i have gotten a new job that pays a lot more than what i was making which means that i can afford a much more expensive(and faster) car. like a mustang. what i wont to know is if i should keep the car that i have or should i get another car like a mustang or something else that is comparable.(if i save for like another year i could get a cobra). and also i know that in this forum you all are going to be leaning towards mustangs but if there is another car out there that gives me better handling and horsepower but is around the same money. give or take like five grand please tell me about it. thanks in advance for all the help

I would go for the z28 or the 87-93 mustang or maybe an older Trans AM

Save your money, and buy one of these:

Install a couple bolt ons, spray it with some lauging gas, and go kick some ass. You won't regret it. Anyways, these modular motors are capable of making alot of power, and the aftermarket support is getting better all the time. I vote for the Cobra, but I am a little biased.

Cool

I'd go for a z28, but thats just me. I'm not much of a Ford guy. Mustangs however are high performance cars, but you will get better handling with the wider made z28

you should go with the 87-93 5.0. they are the easy to modify and they are cheap. You could get a stroker that will walk all over those bow ties and cobras for less that 4 grand.

I'm a domesticish guy, but honestly, if you spend the difference between a civic hx and a camaro/mustang, on the civic, you'll be running harder through the curves than almost any mustang/camaro. But if you really wanna switch cars, go with the fox body mustang (5.0) or if you got enough, drop a 383 stroker in a trans am (any year), and go from there (tranny, rear-end, ect.).

I dont know, you will spend about the same on the honda as you will on an 87-93 stang, once you start to modify it there is no contest. I have raced many different honda, acura's ect, and have not had one give me a good run yet. The closest was an acura type r blowing giggle gas but that was only close thru a couple of gears. as for the chevys, they make great power but i would not touch anything older that a 95 (they seem like they fall apart after 100k) and I dont think that they handel as well as the mustangs.

How many G's do current model Mustangs pull on the skid pad??? Just curious...and would you have a link to that?

As for 4th gen Camaros falling apart, that's one person's opinion. Any car enthusiast knows that 80's 5.0's owned the street. Then the 4th gen Camaros came in and inherited the street wars dominance. Now that the Camaro is going on hiatus, and the Cobras are going to be S/C'd, Mustangs are going to have the upper hand again. It all depends on what your personal taste is. If you like one body style of one car better, and it's in your price range, get it. Make it your own and drive the hell out of it. That's what they're there for, fun.

My question is, why would you buy a car if you knew that you'd be trading it in relatively quickly in the first place? Why not just buy the car you wanted first?

actually i'm really dissapointed with the 305 5.0, my 83 GT has taken many a transam and cammaro from the eighties and i would deffinitly go with the 87-93 mustang, there are so many cheap mods its not even funny

The Integra GSR is a b18c. Swapped into a Civic should be mid to low 14's with only intake / exhaust. Mod from there and you have a lightweight screamer that handles good and is RELIABLE for a daily driver.

Definitely go with a v8, especially a mustang. They are so cheap, and extremely easy to modify(and i mean easy). I'd get a 94 up style, b/c they handle a hell of a lot better than a fox body. You can get a cobra, but they do cost more. they are worth it, though. check my sig out, with that little mods I am flying! Past 4500 rpm my exhaust setup is screaming so loud you'd think the engine is about to blow. oh yeah, i redline at 6800. A mustang is probably the best investement you'll make. Believe me! I raced a brand new Honda S2000, and smoked it. We hit 135 in no time(my car shuts off at 152, but is capable of going faster), and i was still in fourth gear. No offense dude, but Hondas just plain suck, time to move on up.

The only 'cheap' V8 car that will handle real good and handle even better with aftermarket suspension would be the '99+ Mustang Cobra, 32 valve DOHC all-aluminum V8, 5spd trans, and IRS Independent Rear Suspension - Not the live axel like they've had since then came out in '64. A higher winding V8, good looks, and IRS, its nice. But, 97+ LS1 Camaro/Firbirds will beat it in every measure of acceleration/distance. The new GT's are the quickest yet, but a SOHC motor and a live axel out back are kind of a turn-off. VR4's are nice, heavy but nice, very fast stock(0-60 mid to low 5's, 1/4 in mid 13's, top end like 160+), fast with simple mods (intake, exhaust, boost controller) there extremely fast, 300ZX Twin Turbo, 94+ Supra Turbo, You could build a 97-99 GSX Eclipse, with bolt ons it will run 11's. WRX can look real nice with a bodykit, BMW are sporty but not too fast. If your looking to spend $20k give or take, theres a lot of options, just drive as many as you can before you sign your name.

well i really cant decide

well i was thinking about a mustang, or maybe a wrx. but i really cant decide. i dont really care about luxury at all. the only thing i care about in a car. is speed, handling, and braking. thats it. nothing more. so that said and done which car do you think i should get. also i decided to save for like another 9 months which means i can spend as much as 30,000 dollars. so tell me your suggestions
