Windstar Problems!

Alright, I'm having a few problems with my Windstar,

First of all, the power locks in the front doors arent working at all, is this just the motor/actuator? I havent pulled the door panels yet, but thats my assumption.

Also, when the windows are down, and you shut the doors, you can hear the window actually "smacking" into something, and..its not soft either? any Ideas?

There is a sound coming from the right rear wheel when you go over a bump, sounds like metal on metal contact, its been inspected by a mechanic and he couldnt find anything? I thought maybe it was heatsheild, or exhaust hangers, or possibly the exhaust its self? any idea's? I know it needs new rear brakes, as well as the charcoal box needs to be replaced

I am also getting the Trouble code P1450 which I have researched and I know it is "fuel tank vaccum cannot bleed" I have read a few other threads and people are saying its gas cap related, I've checked the gas cap, all the seals are good, possibly its the filler neck? maybe it has something to do with the charcoal box? anyways any help or suggestions is great, thanks folks

Re: Windstar Problems!

On my '98 Windstar the driver's side power window makes a bang if it is even partially down when the door is shut. The right side is OK, so far. I'll be interested in the solution when you find it. I have a feeling that a mounting bolt is loose somewhere in there and with the window up the something is being held in position.

Re: Windstar Problems!

Front power window.... I had the welds break loose on one of the side rails inside the door. It was one of the rails that the window rides in.....one on the front edge of the glass.....and one on the rear edge of the glass. This might be what is causing the sound.

I got a sound from the bolts that hold the rear shocks in place. Just after changing the shocks.
I needed to re-tighten the bolts.

Re: Windstar Problems!

I have a 96 windstar that the window rails broak at the mounting bracket spot welds on both sides. Took them out and brazed them back together and works fine now. They had fallen to the bottom of the door and rattled every time the door closed! Windows also rattled! Easy repair if you can weld or braze or know someone that can.
