Gas Gauge Wont Go Below 1/4 Tank...
Hey all!
I have a 92 GT and for no reason the fuel gauge just started sticking at 1/4 tank. If I fill it up/put more then 1/4 tank of gas the gauge will go up, and work fine and be completely acurate untill it gets to about 1/4 (the needle is just slightly below the mark.) The weird part is that once in awhile if I turn the car on the low fuel light will come on and the guage seems to be acurate for a few mins before slowly rising up to 1/4 tank and forcing the light off. Any ideas? |

Sounds like the sending unit in the fuel tank is bad. Not much work involved in changing it though. That's the good news.

Ford has had this problem with alot of vehicles some reason. E and never go to full others do all kinds of wacky things. I talked to a tech once about this and he told me that sending unit has an arm with a float attached to it. The float will catch on the fill tube, so it either won't go below 1/2 or 1/4 or it won't go above pending how it catches. He said that there are two tubes in the fill tube. One of them is the large rubber housing on the outside then there is always a plastic tube in the middle . The plastic tube is usaully the problem...
