78 caprice needs help!

Hi, I have a 78 caprice 350 SBC is the mexican made one, also I am in Mexico, I have invested on some stuff and I really expect a great change, but besides more gas consumption car is the same, can somebody help me and send me some tips to make my invest work?
I have installed. Edelbrock 1406 carb, moroso carb gasket 1", msd 9 mm cables, dui hei coli high voltage, edelbrock performer intake, msd 6a, and stock spark plugs at .055", 105 amp alternator.
As far as I know all of these changes should be doing tire burned, I am a little dissaponted, maybe I do not know the right specs to squeeze all the equipment in my car, any help is welcome I want to be the fast car down here!

Re: 78 caprice needs help!

I had the same problem with my 78 caprice where there was a huge loss of power, in my case it was the catalytic with 3 pounds of backpressure, tons of unneeded emission crap was removed, the tranny vaccum modulator was clogged, and the distributor was 180 degrees off- To this day I'm surprised the car even ran, now with all that taken care of it's quite difficult not to spin the tires everywhere I go. Hopefully this may give you an idea for some things to check, by the way, I am still using the stock engine and carb. Best of luck to ya and I hope it's something simple.
